Indonesia visa on arrival: VOA, e-VOA, arrival card
Most visitors need a visa: VOA or e-VOA gives 30 days for 500,000 IDR, extendable once to 60 days. Plus the All Indonesia arrival card and Bali's 150,000 IDR tax.
If your country isn't on Indonesia's visa-free list, you need a visa, and for most visitors that means a VOA (Visa on Arrival) or its electronic version, the e-VOA. Both are single-entry, give 30 days from your entry date, and cost 500,000 IDR. The e-VOA is the easier route because you sort the paperwork online before you fly, then walk a separate lane at the airport and skip the VOA counter queue. You can extend the visa once, for another 30 days, to a maximum of 60 days.

VOA and e-VOA: the basic tourist visa
Poland is on the VOA-eligible list (Visa Category B, more than 90 countries), and so are most Western passports. The difference between the airport version and the electronic one comes down to where and when you handle the paperwork.

To enter you need a passport valid for at least 6 months plus a return or onward ticket. You pay for the e-VOA with a Mastercard, Visa, or JCB card. Use only Indonesia's official e-Visa portal, because look-alike sites add fees or imitate the office.
Electronic visa on arrival for Indonesia
The e-VOA is not a different class of stay. It is the same 30-day, single-entry B1 visa arranged before departure. The current B1 guidance from Indonesia's Directorate General of Immigration describes the e-VOA extension application as online, but this does not guarantee a fully remote process. On Bali, the current Ngurah Rai Immigration procedure requires a visit to the office responsible for your postcode for a photo and interview after payment. Check the instructions for the immigration office covering your place of stay. Either visa can be extended once by 30 days for another 500,000 IDR, making 60 days in total.
Visa on arrival at Jakarta airport
At Jakarta Soekarno-Hatta (CGK), you can buy the same national VOA after landing or arrive with an e-VOA already issued. It is not a separate "Jakarta visa": the price and 30-day stay are the same. If your connection is short, arranging the e-VOA before departure removes one arrivals-hall queue.
VOA for Bali
Bali uses the same Indonesian VOA/e-VOA as Jakarta and Java. There is no separate "Bali VOA". What Bali adds is its provincial tourist levy of 150,000 IDR per foreign visitor. That charge is separate from the 500,000 IDR visa fee.
The All Indonesia arrival card
Whatever your visa, you also fill in the digital All Indonesia arrival card. It supports arrival reporting and customs clearance in one flow. Use the official All Indonesia service and keep the QR code available offline. The Indonesian tourism authority also maintains an official All Indonesia guide.
Bali's tourist tax
If you land on Bali, there is a separate charge: a tourist tax of 150,000 IDR (about 8.50 USD, about 31 PLN) per foreign visitor, children included, whatever your visa. It has applied since 14 February 2024 and covers Bali only. Fly into Jakarta, Surabaya, or anywhere on Java and you don't pay it. The simplest way is to settle it online at lovebali.baliprov.go.id before you arrive.
Overstay and the hard rules
The overstay penalty bites: 1,000,000 IDR for every day, plus a real risk of deportation and an entry ban. Watch the date. Two things are worth keeping in mind for the whole trip. Indonesia has some of the strictest drug laws in the world, up to the death penalty, and enforces zero tolerance. Customs limits on entry are a maximum of 1 litre of alcohol and 200 cigarettes per person.
For longer than 60 days
VOA and e-VOA stop at 60 days. Indonesia revised its visa classifications in 2025, so do not rely on an old blog post or agent label for a longer stay. Choose the current category for your activity through the official immigration visa list before booking.
