Surabaya map: three stops for one day

Three pins mark the Tugu Pahlawan complex, Jembatan Merah and Monkasel. They are landmarks, not verified entrances or a walking route. Load OpenStreetMap or open a place in Google Maps.

For one full day in Surabaya, choose three stops: the museum beside Tugu Pahlawan, Kota Lama and Monkasel. Start with the museum, which closes earliest, then adjust the rest around the weather and your onward journey. Arriving late? Pick one stop and dinner instead of carrying your luggage across the city.

Surabaya can be your first stop before Malang and eastern Java. We put this itinerary together using information from the city and the attractions, checked on 21 October 2026. Photograph dates appear in the captions.

Match the plan to your arrival

Time on the ground Suggested plan Leave out
A full day after a city overnight stay Museum Sepuluh Nopember in the morning, Kota Lama, a break, then Monkasel More districts and trips outside the city
Afternoon arrival Monkasel or a relaxed walk around Kota Lama, then dinner The museum that closes at 15:00
An evening before a train A meal and a short walk near your hotel or station Crossing the city for a final attraction
A short flight connection Stay with an airport plan unless you have a confirmed time buffer Treating this guide as a flight-connection itinerary

Before leaving, settle where your luggage will stay and when you must collect it. If you leave the city the same day, write down the departure time and exact station first.

Morning: Museum Sepuluh Nopember beside Tugu Pahlawan

Start with Museum Sepuluh Nopember, the 10 November Museum on Jl. Pahlawan. The city ticket portal lists 08:00–15:00 and IDR 8000. Its collections cover the independence struggle through photographs, objects and dioramas. Check the ticket and available visit date with the city.

The 08:00–15:00 hours apply to the museum. Check access to the grounds around Tugu Pahlawan separately on the city's monument listing.

Allow the morning for the museum; the portal does not give a separate last-entry time.

Late morning or after lunch: Kota Lama and Jembatan Merah

Next is Kota Lama, the old town around Jl. Rajawali and the red bridge, Jembatan Merah. The city's tourism page lists free access to the district. That does not mean every building, museum or business is free to enter. Kota Lama on Surabaya's official tourism site.

Allow time to look at the streets and facades. Jembatan Merah, marked on the map, is a useful landmark for getting your bearings. Plan transfers between Kota Lama and the other stops.

Stop for lunch after the walk. If it gets hot or starts raining, shorten the walk and leave more time for the afternoon.

After a break: Monkasel, the submarine monument

Monumen Kapal Selam, usually shortened to Monkasel, is at Jl. Pemuda 39. It houses the submarine KRI Pasopati 410. The venue website lists 08:00–21:00, and the operator’s price notice lists IDR 25000 for international visitors and IDR 15000 for domestic visitors. Admission is separate from the museum beside Tugu Pahlawan.

If you have limited mobility, ask staff about access to the interior before buying a ticket. Skip Monkasel if you would prefer a slower afternoon or need to reach the station earlier.

Map: three places, separate transfers

The three-point map marks the Tugu Pahlawan complex, Jembatan Merah and Monkasel, with links to Google Maps. Use the pins to orient yourself, and confirm the exact pickup point in your transport app before booking.

Add the airport, hotel and station to your own route separately. Check the fare, extra charges and luggage space before confirming a ride. For a driver with several stops, agree waiting time and the return journey too.
